Do Not Be Afraid

That we could be so blessed as to be in the presence of God! The Almighty Lord, who sculpted this world in all its wonders, created a world that continues on in an everlasting cycle. This Lord of All, Our Creator, the great and awesome God, designer of all, loves us, each and every one of us.

An angel told Zacharias,  "Do not be afraid" that he and his wife would have a son.  The baby  was conceived and was filled with the Holy Spirit while still in the womb.  That baby would become John the Baptist.  After the baby was born, Zacharias named the baby "John".    Zacharias was then filled with the Holy Spirit and prophesied of the fulfillment of the promise to their fathers, by the holy prophets, of the coming of a savior.

Joseph received a visit from an angel in a dream, and was told:  "do not be afraid to take to you Mary your wife, for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Spirit." (Matthew 1:20, in part)

Mary was told : "Luke 1: 30 Then the angel said to her, 'Do not be afraid, Mary, for you have found favor with God. 31 And behold, you will conceive in your womb and bring forth a Son, and shall call His name JESUS.'"

An angel, announcing the birth of Jesus to the shepherds were told to not be afraid:  "Luke 2:8 Now there were in the same country shepherds living out in the fields, keeping watch over their flock by night. 9 And behold, an angel of the Lord stood before them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were greatly afraid. 10 Then the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid, for behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy which will be to all people. 11 For there is born to you this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord. 12 And this will be the sign to you: You will find a Babe wrapped in swaddling cloths, lying in a manger.”

When Jairus, a ruler of a synagogue, found Jesus teaching the multitudes, he begged him to heal his daughter, who was near death. Then some came from Jairus' house and told him to not bother the teacher, his daughter was dead. Jesus told the ruler of the synagogue, “Do not be afraid; only believe.” He then went with him and brought back to life and healed his twelve year old daughter.

When the disciples were straining to row their boat into a strong wind on the lake, Jesus walked out to them, on the water, and told them, "do not be afraid.” He then caused the wind to cease.

The Lord spoke to Paul:  "Acts 18:9 Now the Lord spoke to Paul in the night by a vision, “Do not be afraid, but speak, and do not keep silent; 10 for I am with you, and no one will attack you to hurt you; for I have many people in this city.” 11 And he continued there a year and six months, teaching the word of God among them."

In Revelation John has a vision and sees Jesus:  "Revelation 1:17 And when I saw Him, I fell at His feet as dead. But He laid His right hand on me, saying to me, “Do not be afraid; I am the First and the Last. 18 I am He who lives, and was dead, and behold, I am alive forevermore. Amen. And I have the keys of Hades and of Death."

Do not be afraid, have faith! What a great Lord we have that we, as sinners, completely undeserving of any mercy, are able to come to Him and to not be afraid. Whatever lies ahead, we need not be afraid, the Lord is with us.

Christmas is Coming!

Time has slipped by and it will soon be Christmas!   I would love to shower my children and grandchildren with gifts and surprises this year, but I cannot afford to, so I will be making them picture books again.

My comfort is that they love each other and are there for each other, to give and share and make their own family traditions.

God has been good to us and I bless His holy name.

Baking on a Cold Day

As soon as the temps got above freezing, I opened the door and let the dogs out.  Although the temperature then kept dipping, again,  below freezing, I kept the dogs out until I finished baking.

The banana bread turned out perfect---of course, when you follow the recipe, it is hard to mess it up.  The chocolate chip cookies turned out a bit chewy, since I used 7-grain cereal instead of oatmeal, but they are still A-OK.

As I started laying out the ingredients for the scones, I thought I would alter it and cut back on flour and increased the 7-grain cereal.  I ended up with a cross between a scone and a granola bar.  Not an ideal snack at all, however, the dates and walnuts, made it tasty, and the brown sugar crumbled lightly across its top added a nice sweet taste.

All is good.  At least we have breakfast food and snack food.  God is good.

No more leftovers!!! No more pie!!!

It has been three days since our Thanksgiving Day.   I have had leftovers for every meal the last two days, so including the Thanksgiving dinner, that adds up to  three days of a turkey and ham meal.  Today I had pie for breakfast.  Normally that would have been a treat, but I have had my fill and look forward to baking scones and making some soup with some of the leftover turkey.   Back to the simple foods.

Huimin, Tim, Serena and Timmy made us a gingerbread house.  It was constructed of felt and foam and turned out to be a beautiful little house!   It is a great centerpiece and hopefully we will be able to store it for the coming years.

Today I look forward to getting my energy up and cleaning up outside after the wind and Sammy.   Sammy (Black Lab/Boxer) just can't resist the temptation to take everything apart!  We put some pillows out for each dog and she tore each one apart.  With that strong wind that came up, the foam from the pillows was blown everywhere.  The fence is also filled with tumbleweeds that blew in.

All is good.  The Lord has sheltered the children, in His Hand, on the drive home from the holidays.  It is time to get back to routines.  God has been good to us.

Thanksgiving!

I haven't seen Jack Frost paint a window for quite some time, seeing as all windows now are double pane.  Isn't it beautiful the way God has created nature to make our surroundings pleasing to the eye?

We are having an early Thanksgiving so that we can celebrate with my son and his family while they are here.

Each of the children have mountains in their lives, and I think, why can't they just have a simple, happy, contented life???  But, despite all,  the Lord has been there for them.  Sometimes it doesn't seem like it, as the paths He gives us are not always the easiest--but, His way leads us home.

Everywhere there are such disputes about what church to join and what denomination, if any, to join.  Everyone wants to be right about God.   But, it is not us, that should be shining out there.  We give our testimony, but our testament points to the living God, our Lord, the redeemer of our soul, not to us.

John 3:25 Then there arose a dispute between some of John’s disciples and the Jews about purification. 26 And they came to John and said to him, “Rabbi, He who was with you beyond the Jordan, to whom you have testified—behold, He is baptizing, and all are coming to Him!”

27 John answered and said, “A man can receive nothing unless it has been given to him from heaven. 28 You yourselves bear me witness, that I said, ‘I am not the Christ,’ but, ‘I have been sent before Him.’ 29 He who has the bride is the bridegroom; but the friend of the bridegroom, who stands and hears him, rejoices greatly because of the bridegroom’s voice. Therefore this joy of mine is fulfilled. 30 He must increase, but I must decrease. 31 He who comes from above is above all; he who is of the earth is earthly and speaks of the earth. He who comes from heaven is above all. 32 And what He has seen and heard, that He testifies; and no one receives His testimony. 33 He who has received His testimony has certified that God is true. 34 For He whom God has sent speaks the words of God, for God does not give the Spirit by measure. 35 The Father loves the Son, and has given all things into His hand. 36 He who believes in the Son has everlasting life; and he who does not believe the Son shall not see life, but the wrath of God abides on him.”

This wonderful God, who has given us all things, has blessed us so very much with His Spirit and His Love.  May we in our thankfulness, give so to others.  God bless you on this Thanksgiving Day.  May His Spirit be with you.

Let's hang in There

No matter what troubles lie before us tonight, or however dark the future appears, keep your head up and keep going.  The Lord keeps His promise and He will answer our prayers.

Matthew 21:21 So Jesus answered and said to them, “Assuredly, I say to you, if you have faith and do not doubt, you will not only do what was done to the fig tree, but also if you say to this mountain, ‘Be removed and be cast into the sea,’ it will be done. 22 And whatever things you ask in prayer, believing, you will receive.”

Stay strong, God's blessings and love are beyond description.  Don't let the world take them from you.

James 1:12 Blessed is the man who endures temptation; for when he has been approved, he will receive the crown of life which the Lord has promised to those who love Him.

He will give you strength, when all your strength is gone.  The following verse was my husband's favorite.  We all falter, we all fail, but the Lord is there holding us, keeping us and giving us strength to persevere.

Isaiah 40:31 But those who wait on the LORD
Shall renew their strength;
They shall mount up with wings like eagles,
They shall run and not be weary,
They shall walk and not faint.

Hang in there and stand fast, when the dawn of the morning comes after the darkest night, you shall see the greatness of the Lord's promise for you.

Jeremiah 29:11 For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the LORD, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope.

The High Road

It is with great difficulty that we sometimes have to bite our tongue, hold back our anger and not go off on someone.   When we are wronged, we do become angry.  However, God has given us the means by which to handle such situations -- time!   "Time" is such a blessing.  To be able to walk away and put thoughts aside and deal with it another time.  With clear minds, we will be able to understand the other side and see through their eyes, and be able to deal fairly with the situation.

Let us take the high road and truly love each other, whether it is walking away, or finding a compromise or solution.   Our love will be the greatest strength in whatever battle we fight.

1 Corinthians 13 The Greatest Gift

1 Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I have become sounding brass or a clanging cymbal. 2 And though I have the gift of prophecy, and understand all mysteries and all knowledge, and though I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, but have not love, I am nothing. 3 And though I bestow all my goods to feed the poor, and though I give my body to be burned, but have not love, it profits me nothing.

4 Love suffers long and is kind; love does not envy; love does not parade itself, is not puffed up; 5 does not behave rudely, does not seek its own, is not provoked, thinks no evil; 6 does not rejoice in iniquity, but rejoices in the truth; 7 bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.

8 Love never fails. But whether there are prophecies, they will fail; whether there are tongues, they will cease; whether there is knowledge, it will vanish away. 9 For we know in part and we prophesy in part. 10 But when that which is perfect has come, then that which is in part will be done away.

11 When I was a child, I spoke as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child; but when I became a man, I put away childish things. 12 For now we see in a mirror, dimly, but then face to face. Now I know in part, but then I shall know just as I also am known.

13 And now abide faith, hope, love, these three; but the greatest of these is love.

God be with us all tonight.

The Winds of Change

The winds of change are here and we are about to embark on a new road.  It won't be the path of the world, and it will require much of us, but as the Lord spoke:

Matthew 11:29 Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. 30 For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.”

Whatever happens, whatever comes, the Lord will be at our side, leading us.  He will share in our troubles and griefs, and the "burden" of our walk with Him will give us the rest and comfort we seek.

The change to come is not the empty promises of these days, but the prophesy from the beginning of the age until now, of the return of our Lord, the mighty Son of God--Jesus Christ, King of Kings and Lord of Lords.  His return is soon.  Let us not, as the young man in the previous post, find ourselves unprepared for the unexpected.   Can you imagine how stunned and overwhelmed he was when he found out the truth of what happened?  How much more will our grief be when we find that we have lost out eternally of a life in the new world to come.  How sorrowful we will be when we see those for whom we were responsible had walked with the world and lost the promise of all the blessings of the new world.

The road to a new life is in front of you.  Will you keep to the pathway of the world, or walk with the Lord?  The prophesy of what is to come:

Matthew 24 Jesus Predicts the Destruction of the Temple 1 Then Jesus went out and departed from the temple, and His disciples came up to show Him the buildings of the temple. 2 And Jesus said to them, “Do you not see all these things? Assuredly, I say to you, not one stone shall be left here upon another, that shall not be thrown down.”
The Signs of the Times and the End of the Age 3 Now as He sat on the Mount of Olives, the disciples came to Him privately, saying, “Tell us, when will these things be? And what will be the sign of Your coming, and of the end of the age?”

4 And Jesus answered and said to them: “Take heed that no one deceives you. 5 For many will come in My name, saying, ‘I am the Christ,’ and will deceive many. 6 And you will hear of wars and rumors of wars. See that you are not troubled; for allthese things must come to pass, but the end is not yet. 7 For nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. And there will be famines, pestilences, and earthquakes in various places. 8 All these are the beginning of sorrows.

9 “Then they will deliver you up to tribulation and kill you, and you will be hated by all nations for My name’s sake. 10 And then many will be offended, will betray one another, and will hate one another. 11 Then many false prophets will rise up and deceive many. 12 And because lawlessness will abound, the love of many will grow cold. 13 But he who endures to the end shall be saved. 14 And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in all the world as a witness to all the nations, and then the end will come.

The Great Tribulation 15 “Therefore when you see the ‘abomination of desolation,’ spoken of by Daniel the prophet, standing in the holy place” (whoever reads, let him understand), 16 “then let those who are in Judea flee to the mountains. 17 Let him who is on the housetop not go down to take anything out of his house. 18 And let him who is in the field not go back to get his clothes. 19 But woe to those who are pregnant and to those who are nursing babies in those days! 20 And pray that your flight may not be in winter or on the Sabbath. 21 For then there will be great tribulation, such as has not been since the beginning of the world until this time, no, nor ever shall be. 22 And unless those days were shortened, no flesh would be saved; but for the elect’s sake those days will be shortened.

23 “Then if anyone says to you, ‘Look, here is the Christ!’ or ‘There!’ do not believe it. 24 For false christs and false prophets will rise and show great signs and wonders to deceive, if possible, even the elect. 25 See, I have told you beforehand.

26 “Therefore if they say to you, ‘Look, He is in the desert!’ do not go out; or ‘Look, He is in the inner rooms!’ do not believe it. 27 For as the lightning comes from the east and flashes to the west, so also will the coming of the Son of Man be. 28 For wherever the carcass is, there the eagles will be gathered together.

The Coming of the Son of Man  29 “Immediately after the tribulation of those days the sun will be darkened, and the moon will not give its light; the stars will fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens will be shaken. 30 Then the sign of the Son of Man will appear in heaven, and then all the tribes of the earth will mourn, and they will see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of heaven with power and great glory. 31 And He will send His angels with a great sound of a trumpet, and they will gather together His elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other.

The Parable of the Fig Tree 32 “Now learn this parable from the fig tree: When its branch has already become tender and puts forth leaves, you know that summer is near. 33 So you also, when you see all these things, know that it is near—at the doors! 34 Assuredly, I say to you, this generation will by no means pass away till all these things take place. 35 Heaven and earth will pass away, but My words will by no means pass away.

No One Knows the Day or Hour  36 “But of that day and hour no one knows, not even the angels of heaven, but My Father only. 37 But as the days of Noah were, so also will the coming of the Son of Man be. 38 For as in the days before the flood, they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noah entered the ark, 39 and did not know until the flood came and took them all away, so also will the coming of the Son of Man be. 40 Then two men will be in the field: one will be taken and the other left. 41 Two women will be grinding at the mill: one will be taken and the other left. 42 Watch therefore, for you do not know what hour your Lord is coming. 43 But know this, that if the master of the house had known what hour the thief would come, he would have watched and not allowed his house to be broken into. 44 Therefore you also be ready, for the Son of Man is coming at an hour you do not expect.

The Faithful Servant and the Evil Servant 45 “Who then is a faithful and wise servant, whom his master made ruler over his household, to give them food in due season? 46 Blessed is that servant whom his master, when he comes, will find so doing. 47 Assuredly, I say to you that he will make him ruler over all his goods. 48 But if that evil servant says in his heart, ‘My master is delaying his coming,’ 49 and begins to beat his fellow servants, and to eat and drink with the drunkards, 50 the master of that servant will come on a day when he is not looking for him and at an hour that he is not aware of, 51 and will cut him in two and appoint him his portion with the hypocrites. There shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.

The Unexpected

Yesterday in the paper there was an article of a young man that allegedly had a coughing fit while driving.  It caused him to run off the roadway and into a crowd of people outside a bar, killing three and injuring others.  He was over the limit on his blood-alcohol test.  It happened right after the bars closed and when responders (or bystanders, I don't remember which) came over his first thoughts were, "Was anyone hurt?"   He was a caring person, yet he just killed three people.

The bars are filled with boozers every night and the bar parking lots empty out when the 2 am hour strikes.  Someone is driving drunk tonight, thinking they can handle any situation.  The guy referred to in the previous paragraph, was a big guy, 33, and probably thought he was in complete control.  But that night, the unexpected happened.  If he is found guilty, he will be spending most of his life in jail.  Everything he has earned will be gone to pay for the families' burials of their loved ones.  For the rest of his life he will be carrying the grief of knowing that he killed three people and he could have prevented it.

How often do fathers and loved ones set examples of irresponsibility that their children only see as a freedom?  How many times does a death have to happen before others are awakened to the dangers of drinking and driving?  Will our children be the next victims?  Don't let alcohol be your strength, your comfort or your life, set the pace for those who look up to you and just don't drink.  If you don't know where to start--start with prayer.  The Lord will guide you and open doors for help.

Living on the Edge

At church tonight, the sermon centered around "living on the edge."   I love that phrase--"living on the edge."  It referred to those who spoke of Jesus, those willing to put it all on the line to follow the Lord.   The Bible is replete with examples of those who stepped out in faith.

In our lives, God has blessed us abundantly -- we have family, we have food, we have shelter, we have all that we need, and more!   We are snug in our little spot, but this time will pass.  Our foundation needs to be firm when we stand against the world.   The pastor told a story of a woman during wartime. (I am ad-libbing the parts I missed, as the children distracted me during the story.) --  Emma was part of a group of women quilters.  One day enemy soldiers were walking by and she took her broom out after them.  The soldiers shrugged her off.  The other women laughed at her when they heard and asked her what she thought she was doing.   She said she knew she couldn't win a battle, but she wanted them to know what side she was on.

Don't we feel like we are waving a little broom against enemy guns, when we go against the world?  Yet, we stand.  Whatever happens, God will be there with us. In the battle, let us stand on His side.

ROMANS 8:31 What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us? 32 He who did not spare His own Son, but delivered Him up for us all, how shall He not with Him also freely give us all things? 33 Who shall bring a charge against God’s elect? It is God who justifies. 34 Who is he who condemns? It is Christ who died, and furthermore is also risen, who is even at the right hand of God, who also makes intercession for us. 35 Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? 36 As it is written:

“ For Your sake we are killed all day long;

We are accounted as sheep for the slaughter.”

37 Yet in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us. 38 For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come, 39 nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Long days.

Last week, my son and his wife moved my storage out of a large storage unit and into one half the size (and almost half the cost.)  I have been moving stuff out of the unit over time, resulting in quite a bit wasted space.  We then moved the clothing boxes, linen boxes and "fragile" boxes back to the house to go through.  It appears to be an overwhelming task, as I sit and look at the boxes.  But, proceeding with one foot in front of the other, I will eventually get it done, one box at a time!!

We have had heavy rains these last few days and they have saved our stressed out trees! The grass, that was withered and brown, has once again turned green.  You would never guess that this is October!!  I like this weather--it is nice.  If we don't see snow or cold, I will be happy.

My grandson was baptized the night before his father left.  He was baptized by his father.  The other children were all baptized in church, but Timmy wasn't.  Time constraints overwhelmed us, with all that was going on, so it fell on Tim to baptize Timmy.   I believe God brings about happenings in our lives, to strengthen our faith, and bring families together.  Does a pastor have more authority to do a baptism?  Would someone more knowledgeable about the Bible have more authority to do a baptism?  No.  The answer is "no" to both questions.  It is not our knowledge, it is not our authority, power or any act of ours, that brings about the washing away of the sins, it is all  done by the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ.  He knows our heart and that is what is important--that we love Him.

All is good.

Fall Has Come

The dry grass crumpled like paper as water fell on it.  A pleasing aroma, produced by water on the parched grass,  filled the air.  The garden dried out while I was gone and the remainder of it will now become feed for animals. The elegant lilies still stand tall with their dried out blooms, which we have yet to cut off.

Preparations for winter have begun.  Grass cut for the last time.  The ditches are cleaned to help prevent the snow from drifting on the roadway, the pond is emptied and the outside toys and tools are put inside.   The vehicles are made ready for winter, as well as the house.

There is still a lot to do, but the weather is perfect for working outside.  Fall is the perfect respite to motivate us to prepare for winter.  Could anyone but a loving, caring God make such plans in His creation?  All is good.

Time Goes On

After returning home in the wee hours of Monday morning, I have found that my stamina is not what it used to be.  It is now Thursday and I finally feel recovered from the drive.  Usually I take longer rest breaks along the way, perhaps I just overdid it, twenty hours on the road is too long.

Its amazing how, when you are over 60 years, you can feel like a young person that is being highjacked by aging problems!   I have talked to others that feel the same.  We just can't keep time from going forward without our body getting old.

Thank God He is there for us.  He never ages and with us He is as true today as He was yesterday.  We see less and less friends, as we  no longer are able to get around.  We can't get out to activities or even go shopping, but with God, we are complete, we are whole, He sees us as we really are -- without the encumbrances of the problems that come in this world.  The beauty and grace of His love are forever.

He Will Lead Us

Why are we who we are:  outspoken...timid...brave...fearful, or whatever it is that makes us do what we do?  So often we are afraid, not because we are born that way, but because as children we are berated for our efforts, or always criticized, and soon we accept that we are standing in judgment of all, for what we do.  If positive feedback is not given, we grow up with a negative impression of ourselves and believe that that is how the world will judge us for our efforts.  The world brings troubles and hard times to families, and often children get put on the backburner as parents try to survive.  We, in turn, then raise our children, as we have been taught and the cycle continues.   With God, though, we can be overcomers!

We don't have to be afraid for we don't stand in the judgment of man, but of God.  God loves us unconditionally.  He guides us and keeps us, and will be there for us when troubles come.   He is our strength and at all times, we can depend on His love.  He will guide and keep us with love.

2 Timothy 1:7 For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.

Deuteronomy 7:9 “Therefore know that the LORD your God, He is God, the faithful God who keeps covenant and mercy for a thousand generations with those who love Him and keep His commandments;

Years ago I experienced the love of God.  It was powerful and beyond anything one could imagine.  I believe now that it was a vision of what is to come, that no matter what comes in this world, the Love of God will be there for us, through it all.

I have always been fearful and timid among others, but God has given me strength and loved and guided me through all my decisions these last 13 years.  Sometimes I feel abandoned and fear that I have lost the grace of God, but He has stayed there, always.  One would think that with such a vision, I would be like Paul and be on the road preaching to the world, but instead God has put up with me as I am, and yet, slowly and steadily He has made me stronger.  I don't know what the future holds, but whatever comes, I know the Lord is there and will lead us when the time comes.

Country Pictures from California

The serenity of a creek on a hot summer afternoon.

A patch of bushes, impenetrable except to wildlife.

The coolness of the waters, rocks and foliage, give home to the frogs and crawdads which filled the lake.

Anchored in time, the boulders jut up on the prairie, surrounded by the grasslands baked brown by the hot California sun.

The valley stretches out peacefully on a quiet afternoon.

New song out!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rYEDA3JcQqw

"Rolling in the Deep" by Adele.   Great beat to this song!   It should be rolling out of Kathleen's karaoke machine pretty soon.   Her voice is perfect for this song.

The lyrics don't make a great love song but I am sure they will resonate with a lot of people out there.  We live in a hurting world.

Summer Days

The hot summer sun has evaporated most the water in the pond and prairie winds have filled the water remaining, with tumbleweeds, dried grasses and dirt.   Looking down into the green muck, your first instinct is to back away.

Last week, not finding anyone that sold barley straw to clear the water, we bought a bottle of barley straw extract from the store and dumped a measure of the liquid into the water.  Hoping to help the "cleaner" along, I got a rake to stir up the water and rake out the debris that fell into the pond.  Out came the tumble weeds, grass, sticks and even a bag.  Next came carcasses of two dead mice.  (Yuck!)

Continuing to stir up the water, I carefully raked the bottom so that I wouldn't put a hole in the liner.  Suddenly, as I pulled up the rake, there, on its tines, laid a huge lizard.!  I screamed and the slimy green reptile immediately dived back into the water.   The kids came over to see the lizard.  Holding them back,  at a distance so there would be no chance of them falling in, I tried to scrape up the lizard again from the murky water.  Suddenly Kat came flying out of the house.  Someone had reported to her what had happened and she now came running out to get me to stop using the rake, as I might poke the lizard and hurt it.   Help!   The lizard, that has eaten all the frogs and is now making himself a fine meal of all the little tadpoles that had filled the pond, is now a protected species in Kathleen's acreages!  I'm still waiting for the water to clear so I can see what he is up to.  As these hot days continue, the heat should clear most of the water out the pond of water, then we can get something in there to aerate the water and make a plan to keep the new water, we will add, clear.  A search on the internet brings up information on what we think is probably a tiger salamander in the pond, and it says that it looks for low water holes for breeding grounds.  So....more creepy creatures.  No way I'm walking around at night.  If I don't step on one of these, it will probably be one of the dead mice the cats drag home!

On a different and much more beautiful note, we had the most enjoyable time this past weekend  when Victoria hosted an outstanding baby shower for Kathleen.   Victoria, along with daughter, Madison, are such talented hostesses, with a delightful sense of humor, and the party was fantastic!  The babies put on their own performance, cuddling up to those who held them. The little hams!!  The men, who came with their wives, weren't forgotten; they sat outside and watched the Blue Angels put on an amazing performance. The day was perfect...no wind and even though it was very warm, it wasn't blazing hot.

The only hitch was that I turned the water onto a pine tree that was very stressed and forgot about it early in the day.  I had tried to replace the tree but Kathleen insisted we give the tree a chance and wait to see if it would make it.  About half-way through the baby shower the watering drained the cistern, leaving us with no water.  Andy then made a trip to town to get a  tank of water.   Few people noticed, as everyone was busy.

Today Victoria, Serena, Timmy and I went to town to pick up Madison at her gym class.   On the way home we stopped to look at RV's that were being displayed for the fair-goers, at the K-Mart parking lot.   Timmy checked out all the bathrooms in each to see if he liked them, and Serena checked out the bed space--she didn't want to share with Timmy, as he kicked.  Madison checked out everything, including the price.

Our search was for a camper that could be pulled by my vehicle, which has a 6,000 lb towing limit.   So, the 4,000 (+/-) small RV's were the ones we toured.  We found a beautiful one, that was about $20,000 and at the top of my 4,000 wt limit.  I loved it because it had a cozy dining room table and bench seats at the back, with a bay window all around it.   It was perfect for my plan of using nature to help me make various art projects, by going on little trips into the woods, prairie, lakes, and other such places, to find the perfect treasure.   It was also big enough so that any of the families could use it and it would accomodate all of their family on an outing.  By next year, I hope to be able to get it.

These hot days are so nice!  It is so relaxing not to have to bundle up to keep warm!  I hope it lasts late into the Fall, although we could use a little rain with it.   All is good.  God is good.

The Miracle of a Baby!

The twins came almost a month early, and weighed about 4 lbs 6 oz.  The weights at the hospital seemed to vary by an ounce or two, on different charts, but whatever their true weight was....they are cute.

There are so many different miracles in the birth of a baby.   The first miracle is that conception is the beginning of life.  At this moment baby is a new life.   Except for nournishment, baby is complete, he or she just needs to develop and to continue developing into adulthood.

Miranda came first and being the baby on the bottom, this would be natural.  All was good.   Andrea came next, but she had a slight respiratory failure to begin with.  We now learn that the contractions during delivery help the baby to begin the breathing process.  Andrea came through a passageway that was already opened and didn't get the contractions that Miranda did.  A little blowby oxygen was given her, and yet she was very still...to begin with.  When she finally got her wind, she once again became the active one.

Both babies have taken on their own personalities, studying their surroundings in different ways, interacting in different ways and becoming their own little persons.

God is good and has given Mom and Dad some very precious children.  May every child be blessed with doting and loving parents such as these.

New grandbabies!

Almost a month early, little Andrea Faye and Miranda Grace decided it was time to see the world.  Kat went into the hospital yesterday afternoon and before 7 last night both babies were born!!  The long wait for them is over.  All is well.

4th of July!!

Happy 4th of July!   What a great day to live in the U.S.A.!   The sun is already beating down on us, the parades will soon start, and the celebration begins.   Let's not take this wonderful freedom, that our forefathers have fought and died for, for granted.  God has blessed America, let us give thanks and honor to Our Creator for this beautiful country and the freedom He has given us.

Often, in my life, I have wondered how I could have been so lucky as to be born here!  What "not-by-chance" weaving, in the overall picture of life on this earth, gave me this special place to call home.  The world is full of hurting people without love, without hope and without freedom -- yet it is the greatest gift our Country has to offer.   God has blessed America.  Let's not let the blessing leave us -- keep God in our Nation!

Walking in the Flames

A number of years ago, I had a dream where I was standing at the edge of an embankment.  Down a steep grade was a great expanse of what looked like a lake of flames.   People were walking around in it.  It looked intriguing.  The flames apparently weren't hot and I felt no heat from where I was standing.  I just stood and stared watching the people walking in the flames.

Above the land, in front of me, was another land, but it was on much higher ground.  There was a space between it and me, and it and the lake of fire.  It was heaven.  There was light and there was a sense of knowing that righteousness was there.

As I read the papers lately, I think back to my standing and watching the people in the flames.   I think of those flames when I read of all the advances of the homosexual agenda in our laws and in our schools, and the indoctrination of it in the military.  Even around the world the agenda is taking over at an unprecedented speed.   All these people, bound for hell, and yet they walk around, blindly, looking neither to the left or to the right, but inward, just thinking of themselves.  Their freedom, a blind front for lawlessness and rebellion, becomes their call as they march in Satan's realm, thumbing their nose at God and justifying the homosexual lie with more lies.  In numbers and cunning they deceive the people, and subvert the schools and government with their agenda.  They entice our children with the lure of promises of rebellion of authority and power for their side--to accept the forbidden sexual sin.

God's work is in place and the time for the return of our Lord is soon.  Satan is capturing all within his grasp.  Don't fall for the lies.  There is no Truth in approving and accepting homosexuality, no more than there is Truth in approving and accepting prostitution, adultery, pornography, or any other sexual sin.   When God says they are a sin, they are a sin.  Our God does not change and His Word stands.

Finally some hot days!

The weatherman has forecasted the next two days to be  91 and 90 before returning to the 70's!!   It is going to be so nice to just have a taste of summer.  Tomorrow we can finally get warm!   (I hope there is no wind with it.)

I finally got back home and found the garden still alive.  It is actually doing good.  We have pretty much had rain every day, so all the thanks for that go to the Lord!  He is good!

Kept By God

A Montana school bus, filled with children returning from Bible Camp, over-corrected twice and then flipped on Hwy 2 by Devon last week. The exact number on board the bus was never given us, but it was about 40. One person broke his/her collar bone, two required minor surgery, and the others received bumps and bruises. Comments to the articles in the Tribune mocked the children going to Church Camp for Biblical teachings, mocked a God that allowed the bus to be in an accident, and one comment thought that God had it made, to cause the accident and then save the people.

We live in a world that does not know God. Jesus told us we would have tribulation in this world:

John 16:33 "These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world.”

The Lord does not keep us out of the world, but He does keep us close to Him. How many times have we had a close encounter and were told how "lucky" we were? But, what is luck? Wikipedia describes it as:

Luck or fortuity is good or bad fortune in life caused by accident or chance, and attributed by some to reasons of faith or superstition, which happens beyond a person's control.

Does "luck" cover the Hand of God's protection of us? Do we then put His watch over us in the same category as lucky rabbit feet, fairies and happenstance?

I, too, have had close encounters, and there was no "luck" there; it was the Hand of God keeping me.

Fourteen hours on the road is a long time, but I made the trip from Colorado Springs to Montana a number of times, while we lived down there. There was no way to avoid driving in the dark, with those long hours. One dark night, I was cruising down the seemingly endless stretch of Wyoming interstate. It was very late and few cars were on the road. Ahead I saw what looked like brake lights on a car. As I got closer, I realized that it was either pulled over or going very slow. Moving to the passing lane, I kept on driving. It was now obvious the other car was not pulled over but was in the right lane and stopped. As I was about to overtake the other vehicle, my headlights suddenly illuminated a herd of deer passing in front of the other car and across the lane I was driving down.

Stomping on the brakes, my tires screeched on the pavement as I slid next to the other car. Then in an instant I saw the deer in front of me leap to the side. Some to the ditch, others back across to the other side of the road, and I passed by, without incident, as the road opened up before me.

Another time, after my 3 year old daughter had died, I was returning from the graveyard with my then pregnant 17-year old daughter. The road curves and intersects into another road. I did not see the stop sign and went around the curve, without looking for traffic. As I entered the intersection, I didn't see a car approaching directly from one direction and a motorcycle from another. After I was into the curve I saw them on either side of the car and then they became a blur. I have no idea how we all got through that intersection without crashing. I know God's Hand was there, I just don't know how He did it.

Another time I was heading down to Colorado Springs and I underestimated the distance I could go on a tank of gas. I was about 10 miles from the next town. The car began to stall out as I approached an exit. I took the exit and coasted down the off-ramp and parked off the road by the stop sign. There was a club, of some sort, across the secondary road the exit led into; but, it was now very late at night, and the club had long since closed its doors. I fell asleep and sometime later awoke to a bright light shining in my eyes. It was an oilfield worker who had been headed out to check one of the rigs. He said he never stops for cars, but he had passed the car and said something then made him stop and come back. He took me to the next town and bought me some gas, brought me back to the car and put it in my tank. Now I was back on the road, thanks to the kindness of a stranger.

Another time I was heading to Montana from Colorado Springs. It was winter and a storm blew in as I was driving. Neither my heater nor defrosts were working as the frigid night set in. I would travel along and then have to stop and scrape my windshield in order to see. My breath was frosting it up. I kept the windows down a little to help, but it still frosted up. There were no cars on the road, either coming or going. Thankfully! as I was traveling so slow. Then I got out, once again to scrape the windows, and the minute I put my foot on the pavement it flew off from under me. I grabbed the door and gingerly tried again. The roadway was covered in slick ice! Obviously this is why there were no other cars on the road. I continued at an even slower rate, still clearing the windows, but standing on the door panel instead of the roadway. Finally....finally....I got to a town in Montana with a truck stop. I stopped and got gas. A trucker came over and looked at the car and was able to get my heater and defrost working again. I forgot what he said was wrong.

Now, I had to decide whether to spend the night, and I really didn't have money to do that, and it was too cold to sleep in the car, or keep traveling. I didn't want to get back on those icy roads, but if I went slow, I could make a little time. Driving out to the on-ramp, I entered and got up on the interstate. In front of me the road stretched out, dry and inviting! I had come to the end of the ice storm!

Another time I was traveling with some Guard soldiers from another unit in Eastern Montana back to our unit. It was winter, the roads were snow packed and slick. We were coming down the side of a mountain and the road ahead curved. Suddenly our vehicle started into a slide. Then as we got to the curve, the tires caught traction and we continued on safely around the corner.

Another time I was traveling from Colorado Springs to Montana. I had always paid for gas with a check. My light indicator was indicating empty, and I pulled into the nearest town with a gas station, rather than trying to make it to the next truck stop. I went into pay for the gas and they would not take a check. It was now after hours and no banks were open. I didn't have credit cards and I had never heard of a debit card. I went back to the car and opened my purse and was counting out my change on the gas pump. I figured if I could just get a couple of dollars in gas, I could make it to the truck stop. I had like a dollar something. Then a lady walked out of the gas station store and went and over to her big pickup truck. She put her sacks of purchases into her pickup and then came over and gave me a ten dollar bill. She had been in the store and heard my conversation with the clerk. She would not take a check in exchange, just waved to me and said to pass it on someday.

Another time I was traveling from California to Montana with my children. Tim was driving and Huimin was co-piloting. We had taken the road through northern California and on up the coast to Spokane, as the normal route through Wells and Twin Falls was having a blizzard and was not passable. We hit rain and had pretty good roads until we got to northern Washington. We hit a snow storm after we passed Spokane.

I think it was Lookout Pass that we were now coming down. The roads were bad. Suddenly we came upon snowplows reducing our already limited visibility. They were in the driving lane, so we passed, as we passed they covered us with a sludge of snow and mud making the windows impossible to see through.  The wipers left tiny streaks Tim could see through.   Tim, or Huimin, turned on the windshield washer and it immediately made a sheet of ice across the windshield. Tim instantly opened his window and stuck his head out and drove leaning out the car. We now pass back into the driving lane as we overtook cars inching along in the passing lane. We are traveling at a slow speed of perhaps 25-35, or less, on snowy and icy roads, with cars ahead, cars behind, plows to the side, steep mountainsides on the other side of the guard rail, and snowing conditions with low visibility.  Even without the iced up windshields, we were in a very dangerous situation. The defrosts finally cleared the window and Tim could finally drive from the inside again! We got through the pass and then after a small break we continued through the next pass also.

We live in this world and we will face the dangers here. But, God keeps us. He has plans for us and they are plans for our good. As spoken by the Prophet Jeremiah to the people Isreal:

Jeremiah 29:11 For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the LORD, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope.

Another time, in 1991, I was returning to our home in the country. It was early in my last pregnancy and I was very sick, sleeping all the time, and had absolutely no energy. I was sure it was from inhaling all the dust from the boards at the old house that I had sanded and planed, and the fumes from the paint remover I used on the old boards covered in lead paint and other types of paints from the early century arsenol of paints available.

The sun was down below the horizon and dusk setting in. The road was dusty and bumpy. I cannot remember if the wind was blowing or not, I am thinking it was. I came around the corner, to the last leg of the trip before getting home, and there was in front of me a huge swirling tunnel made of dust. It was quite long - although I don't know how long, perhaps 100 feet. I drove through it. When I got home I started coughing and coughed up bitter tasting stuff from my lungs for quite some time. After that I started feeling better, my energy came back and soon I was back to getting things done.  My baby was later born with a syndrome, and I am sure it was from the toxic build-up in my lungs, and my degraded health, during her development. I believe the clearing out of my lungs saved her life.

1 Peter 1:3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who according to His abundant mercy has begotten us again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, 4 to an inheritance incorruptible and undefiled and that does not fade away, reserved in heaven for you, 5 who are kept by the power of God through faith for salvation ready to be revealed in the last time.
6 In this you greatly rejoice, though now for a little while, if need be, you have been grieved by various trials, 7 that the genuineness of your faith, being much more precious than gold that perishes, though it is tested by fire, may be found to praise, honor, and glory at the revelation of Jesus Christ, 8 whom having not seen you love. Though now you do not see Him, yet believing, you rejoice with joy inexpressible and full of glory, 9 receiving the end of your faith—the salvation of your souls.

10 Of this salvation the prophets have inquired and searched carefully, who prophesied of the grace that would come to you, 11 searching what, or what manner of time, the Spirit of Christ who was in them was indicating when He testified beforehand the sufferings of Christ and the glories that would follow. 12 To them it was revealed that, not to themselves, but to us they were ministering the things which now have been reported to you through those who have preached the gospel to you by the Holy Spirit sent from heaven—things which angels desire to look into.

God is good! He keeps us and we are His. What greater pleasure is there than to know that God loves you!

Father's Day

Today was a beautiful day for Father's Day.  Thunder rumbled overhead, soon afterwards the rain poured from the sky, and then came sunshine and blue skies--a beautiful June day.

Tim's children, along with mom, are visiting their other grandma and their grandpa in Ohio.  The grandparents have been waiting quite some time to see their only grandchildren and were surprised at how much they have grown.

Victoria's daughter, along with mom and dad, visited her other grandma and her grandpa in California.  Grandpa Russ has been diagnosed with cancer and is now fighting the battle with chemo.   What a blessing to have family around when you are sick.

Kathleen's son, along with dad, visited his other grandma and his grandpa.  Grandpa Bill is about to have knee surgery again.   Today was a "boy's out" day with golf and gopher hunting.

God has blessed me with my children and a wonderful husband who loved and cared for his children.  Life has been good, despite the mountains and valleys.  My children married and brought me beautiful grandchildren and I thank God for this awesome blessing.

The greatest honor today is for our Heavenly Father, who brought forth His beloved Son, destined to be our savior.  I thank Him for His amazing love for us.  May the return of our Lord be soon!

Peaceful Day

Today was beautiful!   The sun shone warmly all day and even the gentle breeze, that blew for a while this afternoon, was semi-cool.   As the day wore to an end, the stillness of the evening brough a restful quietness to the countryside.  After all these rainy, chilly days, it was so very refreshing.

This afternoon, Chris and Kathleen discovered that we do not have one frog in the pond...there are at least five!!  I thought, from listening to the croaking, that I could hear another frog there--but five!?!  I don't know where all the other frogs came from!  We know we had ONE frog hopping around when we laid sod last year.   Kat, Andy and Chris are making plans for the pond...it will be exciting to see what they end up doing.

Hopefully tomorrow will be another day like today.  I look forward to getting as far as possible on the mowing, before the rain returns.   God is good.  He is our Comfort and our Peace.

The Water is Rising

Christopher took some pictures of the Marias River on our way home today.  It is now almost up to the Interstate!
All the streams in Montana are overflowing; and, rivers are going over their banks and flooding homes and roadways.   As we came down, we tried to see if there was still snow in the mountains, and I am sure there is, but we could not see it for the  cloud  cover.   Tomorrow it is forecasted to be sunny, followed by rain on Saturday and Sunday.

If there is anything that tells man he is not in control, it is when the forces of nature become disasters.   Man, in all his worldly wisdom, cannot stop it.  To a degree, we can protect ourselves from its ravages, but we cannot stop it, or even turn it aside.   At what point, will man turn to God for help?

Summer vacation starts!

My grandson has arrived for the summer!  Yea!   It is the official start of summer for us.   It is so hard to keep track of the years, however, Christopher turned two on 9/11/01, so as long as I still have the ability to add or subtract, I will be able to figure out his age.  This year he will turn 12 and NEXT year he will be a teenager!!    In California, my youngest granddaughter, born on her grandfather's birthday, is celebrating her 8th birthday!

Time does not stop for anyone and there are so many things I wish I had taught MY children, but never made the time to teach them.  One day I woke up, mentally, and realized they had left; they had started their own lives, and it was now too late.    But, that is not the end of the story.  We have a Savior!!!   With Him, there is no time, no boundaries, no impossibilities.  He opens doors we could never have dreamed of, and He has opened doors for me and my children.      My God, My Lord, My Hope! I commit all to His Hands.   What glory is there if I am saved and those I love are lost??

Night Sky

In the dead of the night it came.  First as one thunk, against the house, then increasing in volume, and then the hail dropped from the sky.   My curtains lite up as lightening streaked across the dark sky.  I went and got the camera, hoping to get a picture of the lightening, but I would click, as the lightening started, and a breathe or two after the lightening flashed the camera would snap the shot of the now darkened sky.

Finally, I remembered there was "video" on the camera, so I took a couple of videos, but the computer will not support them, so I am putting the one that turned out on this blog so that I can view it.  Very little thunder with the storm.   The video shows the end of the storm....wished I had gotten the brunt of it!

The majesty of God's handiworks is awesome--the lightening, the hail, the dark night sky--who can be like the Lord!

Inside Day

And the rains continue.   Yesterday afternoon, the rain stopped for a bit and suddenly it looked like we were living in dandelion land.  There is no way to get the mower in to mow until the ground dries up a little.  And, we can't spray until the rains stop.  The latest weather report shows that after today the sun will come out.   I am waiting.....  I hope they don't change that forecast!!  We need that sun for our garden to sprout and grow!

Freckles came home soaking wet and hungry this morning.  He was purring away as I dried his fur off. Something, from out on the prairie, has been stalking the cats; but, I haven't been able to catch it yet.  It has broke through the fence three times.  It has to be bigger than the cats or it would just take the path the cats use to get in.  So far it has just scared the cats off and eaten their food.  I am watching for the fox that has been hanging around to see if he has been sneaking up to the house, hungering for kitty food and cats.

Today will be busy.  If the sun is out tomorrow, then all the housework needs to be done today, so that we can get outside when the sun shines!  God is good...there is always hope for the future.  The day may come when the only hope will be the one True Hope -- life in the new world with the Lord.  As always, our trust is in the Lord.

followers

Somehow I lost the list of followers and the gadget that lets you follow the blog.   I just can't find a fix in any of the instructions, so, if you are still reading this....you might be the last followers.

I will look further into this tomorrow.

Rain...Rain....and more Rain!

Last night the wind came howling in.  It howled around the eves and around the garage door!  It had rained earlier in the evening, but seemed to have been gentle rain; it now turned into a fury and pelted the windows and the roof.  I got up to go check on the dog houses to make sure the attached little fort didn't send them flying.  Kat and Andy had come in earlier, and now the storm brought them out to check on the dogs too.  They were ok.

Neither Sammy or Beamer would budge out of their dog houses, when I went out to feed them this morning.  Beamer peeked his head out and waited for me and Sammy just stayed inside.  Picking up their dishes and dumping the rainwater, I stuck their dishes inside their houses.

We aren't getting the dangerous storms that they are having in the midwest, but all will have to watch streams, creeks and rivers, as the rain continues through the week.  A lot of places are flooding, but so far we just have lots of mud.

Kathleen's little caragana trees that she planted last year seem to love this weather.  They finally bushed out and are standing up straight and pretty.  From a distance I don't see the little lilacs taking off, but the  bigger ones close to the house have reached their little branches up to the sky and leafed out.

Whatever happens, whatever comes, we know the Lord is in control.  We keep our eyes on Him.

End of the Age Today!

We do know we are living in the end times.  Where?  Only God knows the day and time.  Yet, in the news Harold Camping has declared that today is the day of the Lord's return.  I don't fault him for wanting to be a prophet, or for wanting to be the one leading the people to salvation, or for looking forward to the Lord's return; but, he has ventured from the path of just trusting God.

If you are a christian, you will know that we will see the signs, but will not know the date and time.  My  prayer is that Harold Camping and those who are trying to reveal God's plan, without God's declaration that it be revealed, will find solace from God when they realize they are mere mortals.

He's Alive! Our Sins Are Forgiven!

The following is "Four Days Late" By Aaron Wilburn and sung by Aaron Wilburn:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?gl=US&feature=related&hl=iw&v=RZvAGXn-CIY

May we all be a witness to the power of God, whatever the cross we carry. When we go through the fire, that is the time our hearts are open to Heaven and we are closest to God.

Matthew 9  (Jesus Forgives and Heals a Paralytic) 1 So He got into a boat, crossed over, and came to His own city. 2 Then behold, they brought to Him a paralytic lying on a bed. When Jesus saw their faith, He said to the paralytic, “Son, be of good cheer; your sins are forgiven you.

3 And at once some of the scribes said within themselves, “This Man blasphemes!”

4 But Jesus, knowing their thoughts, said, “Why do you think evil in your hearts? 5 For which is easier, to say, ‘Your sins are forgiven you,’ or to say, ‘Arise and walk’? 6 But that you may know that the Son of Man has power on earth to forgive sins”—then He said to the paralytic, “Arise, take up your bed, and go to your house.” 7 And he arose and departed to his house.

8 Now when the multitudes saw it, they marveled and glorified God, who had given such power to men.

Whatever the trials, His grace and His love will get us through it.

Do not give up, He is with us always! Lord Come Soon!

Matthew 28:19 Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Amen.

The Rain Finally Came!

The forecasters have been pushing back their prediction of rain, again, and again.  Finally, it rained last night!  We put off spraying the weeds because rain has been in the forecast all week.  They have now gone to seed.   At least we aren't alone, as it appears the neighbors are in the same boat.

We finally got our garden in.   Corn, peas, carrots, lettuce, onions, beans, tomatoes and potatoes.  Yesterday we added strawberries!   As you can see there is lots of work to be done, yet.  The bunch grass, in the front, has to be pulled and then we will put in a little grass and a patio.

The rains are going to last until the 1st of June, so this gives us a breather to get some other stuff done.

God is good and I thank Him for this rest; and, the refreshing and watering of our garden, trees and flowers.

Windy Again--No surprise!

Yesterday was so nice....no wind and very warm!!!   Today the wind is back.  In checking the paper, it looks like it will be here tomorrow too.  So, tomorrow back to my "farm coat"--my very warm winter coat that got saturated with car oil.  (Not on purpose.)

My hope was to get the garden in today, and although I got everything cleared out of the area, and borrowed Mom's rototiller, it still isn't ready. Four new fence posts now replace the flimsy ones I bought last year--that bent or broke when the wind blew over the snow fence, that was put up next to the garden fence.   Tomorrow I will get the fencing restretched and try to get a tight fence--then plow up the dirt.  It would do no good to plow up the dirt and then leave it open for the cats to get into.   Their eyes would probably get big as saucers and their little hearts pitter-patter at a fast pace, to see such a big "cat box"!!!

Kat wants to put in strawberry and raspberry plants.  Tomorrow we will make our plans and decide how eveything is going to be arranged.

All the children are growing gardens this year, and I am so proud of every one of them.  There is a little bit of farmer in all of them.

There is a lot of work to be done, but I am so glad spring is here! God is good!

The Gardens

With no garden area, or room for a big garden, the kids have become resourceful at growing their garden patches.

Victoria had Nick cultivate the edge of their lawn on one end of their yard.   The tall fencing will shade the more fragile plants from the hot California sun.   Victoria and Madison removed all the bricks from their patio and used them for a framework for their garden.

Planted to make the most of the space available, Victoria and Madison now have a thriving garden, watered by the automatic watering system!  Life is good!

Everything is growing and doing well.

The strawberry plants in the front yard already have strawberries ripe for picking.   The harvest has already got a start!

Huimin had less options for a garden.  She took Tim shopping and they came home with supplies to build their own. She then organized and planted her garden.

The garden is easily accessible on their patio, with a watering hose within reach and a fence to protect the plants from the strong winds that blow over the coastal plains of California.

They have a perfect little patio garden.  Serena will soon be mothering all those little plants and I am sure Timmy is anxious to get the water hose out to water them!
